My dedication to preserving knowledge and increasing access to information stems from personal experience with educational barriers and a deep belief that understanding our history is crucial for building a more equitable future. Growing up with limited resources, I discovered that books and historical records were powerful tools for understanding not just my own place in the world, but humanity's collective story. These early experiences shaped my conviction that access to information and historical truth is a fundamental right, not a privilege.
Through my work in genealogy and historical research, I've seen how preserved records can give voice to those who have been historically silenced or overlooked. I believe that protecting and providing access to these materials isn't just about maintaining documents – it's about ensuring that future generations can understand their history, learn from our past, and make informed decisions about our shared future.
This perspective guides my approach to both work and study: that every effort to preserve, organize, and share information is an act of service that supports justice, equity, and the democratization of knowledge. Whether working with historical documents, administrative records, or digital collections, I'm driven by the belief that accessible, well-preserved information is essential for a thriving, just society.
